I’ve gotten that alot over the years, since the first interview came out.
Yes. Caleb “Kai” McGillivary(they have the spelling wrong) is my brother. Little known fact, is he’s actually my only “full blood” sibling.
So what do I think about this new “True Crime” documentary on netflix about him?
Well I’ll share some of my thoughts, as I know I’m going to be asked.
TLDR at the bottom.
As they brought up a lot of different times of his life, I’m not going speak to everything that happened along his adventurous 25 years before this happened.
I want to stay on what I think of the documentary.
When we were approached by the production company, they told my family that they wanted bring to light what happened, and help his story. So did they?
Well if you watch the doc, read my post, and the article I reference below.. I’m sure you can make your own conclusion on that.
It left me with a lot of questions..
-Why did they leave out the whole miscarriage of justice?
He spent nearly five long years in solitary confinement at the Union County Jail while awaiting trial. Twenty-three hours a day, seven days a week, in segregation—what is considered to be “cruel and unusual punishment.” That is of course a gross violation of constitutional rights, not unlike the inherent violation of the sixth amendment right to a speedy and fair trial that Kai was subjected to.
-Why didn’t they highlight all the conflict of interests?
The investigators, judges, and district attorneys were friends with the “victim”
Galfy was found with his own semen and unidentified blood on his penis.
Caleb said he was raped, and was claiming self defense to it..
-Why didn’t they bring up the fact he was refused a rape kit when he asked for it?
And a tox screen? Yeah, they didn’t afford him that either.
So in a place that he’s presumed guilty until proven innocent.. How’s he supposed to prove that?
Another big question:
-Why wouldn’t they mention a dishwasher be run in a house subject to an ongoing investigation about an alleged murder and/or rape?
-Why wouldn’t they bring to light that the victims brother was allowed into the crime scene during an active investigation? (Funny how it was during the times the dishwasher was run)
(OH.. And did I mention he was a local police chief?!?)
-Why didn’t they mention how the police didn’t check any of the pill bottles for GHB or any other illicit drugs?
There’s still more questions yet.. but I have hunch.. they made the documentary to sell and be sensational, rather than face the brutal truth of miscarriage of justice.
We had our ups, we had our downs.. as with any sibling relationship.
So even though we had a falling out before he went down the states, and though we don’t talk anymore.. I still care for him, I still have love for him.. and I hate how he didn’t get a fair trial, and fair fight in this..
I’m disappointed this documentary didn’t highlight any of the important things in this case.

TLDR;
Though they summarized his rise to fame, some of his wild side, showed only a little bit of his caring side.. the documentary didn’t tell any of the important parts of his case, and was made to be sensational, and not an investigative documentary into his case; leaving many questions unsaid.
